Peace and quiet within our Houston homes are getting harder and harder to achieve. Road noise, barking dogs, lawnmowers and motorcycles can rob all of us of the solitude we seek. Glass in noise reduction plays an important role in the containment of outside noises. Unfortunately, single pane builder grade windows are virtually no help.
Ultra replacement windows can provide the peace and quiet that you’re looking for — with a variety of glass options available to find the perfect solution for your particular needs. Starting with the frame material, we’ll help you choose from vinyl, aluminum, composite or fiberglass. We’ll then guide you through the process of choosing the right glass in noise reduction to maximize the noise abatement. Lastly, we’ll install your new windows, using state-of-the-art spray foams to ensure your new windows are tightly sealed. This also helps prevent air and water infiltration.
Modern double-pane windows utilize two panes of glass, help a specific distance apart by a spacer. Typically, the two panes of glass will be either single or double strength in thickness. The most cost-effective way to improve upon the base glass package is to upgrade to offset glass. Offset glass is achieved by using one thickness on the outer layer and a different thickness on the inner layer.
Another important point for glass in noise reduction is the use of laminated glass. Laminated glass is comprised of two layers of glass with a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sandwiched between. The laminated glass will typically be placed to the interior of the window, with the outer layer of glass being either single or double strength.
